The mix tape brings up all kinds of nostalgia for us at fêtette. Making them. Receiving them. The hidden messages. (The not so hidden messages.) Figuring out the perfect mix tape title and images for the outside. Carefully fitting song titles on the inside so your letters didn’t squish. Nostalgia is hot right now (and we’re all for it), so it’s no surprise the old school icons are coming back in cool ways.

These Mix Tape Letterpress Wedding Invitations from Studio On Fire are gorgeous and fun. See more images on their site as well as more info on their printing process. We love that the couple’s initials are even embedded in the boombox speakers!

We’ve been on a stamping kick and love the below mix tape stamp from Yellow Owl Workshop. We can see ourselves stamping this on packages, as a postcard, as a tag on tote bags, etc.

A quick trip over to Etsy turned us on to this gift-perfect cassette print from UrbanTickle (comes with a sister LP print):

And this Timeless Treasures fabric from BelloBerryFabricShop:

We just ordered some of this fabric and can’t wait to make stuff! We’re thinking little purses, iPod cases, pillows, patches, cross-stitch pieces. . . What would you make? Let us know in the comments below – and if you need a “real” cassette fix, head over to tapedeck.org to scroll through their collection of rare and common cassette tapes of the past.

FYI, I made plenty of mixes with those awesome Memorex tapes on the bottom left and right. (Even choosing between the 90 and the 60 was a thing. You know what I’m talking about.) Mix tapes. Best gifts ever. {xo celine}

    Yes, yes, yes! I remember listening to mix tapes from friends and stopping/rewinding the tape again and again to write down the lyrics! Good times. Can't wait to see what you do with the fabric!
