When it comes to traveling, my dear friend Andrew is as spontaneous as I am. So though I was slightly confused to find out he ended up traveling away for part of his holiday break, I was thrilled when he emailed me the photos below, saying:
I came across this collection of New Year’s resolutions while shopping at the Paris Market in Savannah, Georgia. While I don’t usually put much stock in resolutions around the New Year, something about this display moved me. I think it’s the idea that people’s hopes, fears and dreams take on greater significance, and greater power, when they are done collectively, even among a collection of strangers. I intend to use this idea in my classroom, encouraging students to share their resolutions with one another. But I think it would also be brilliant, and beautiful, as an interactive installation at a New Year’s Eve party.
Agreed. There is something beautiful and moving about people coming together positively. Love the idea of making a resolutions wall in a classroom or at a New Year’s Eve party. It would also be a great way to display well wishes to a birthday celebrant or couple getting married. Twine, clothespins, fun paper and markers. Easy!
Thanks for sending, Andrew! Definitely a genius way to get some collective good mojo going. Your nephew Grey’s resolution is our favorite. {xo celine}
P.S. I visited Andrew in Buffalo as part of my own spontaneous travel earlier this month and will share our trip to Toronto when I can get through the photos! Also, Andrew, Alix (his sister), Ryan (my brother) and I are going to start a fun little side project in January. . . Stay tuned.

This is a great idea! I love the idea of having something like this displayed in the home all year round.

I want to put a mini version up in our vaca rental just for fun, but a permanant display at home would rock it.
